Issey Miyake dress, photographed by Irving Penn. I got the Taschen book at a warehouse sale this summer—hoping to scan some of the lovely photography and ad campaigns in it for you all soon. Conceptually probably my favorite brand ever, although when I visited the Pleats Please store I couldn't figure out how to put anything on. Got lost in a shirt for 10 minutes trying to figure out which hole was the neck hole.

rightmost dress with the gentle structured pleat—amazing, i love the look of the navy fabric opening up, and how the shadows get caught on the inside of the pleat/fold.
i'm a huge fan both of thin pleats and layered dresses—i really like how the right has a textural "pattern" with the pleats, and the grid pattern in the layer underneath. wonder if the pleated layer moves independently, or not—and where it's attached to the more fitted underneath.
these stark fastening things are so cool. this actually feels very fantasy-novel-y, i can imagine some heroine escaping into the woods and her moss-green dress/cloak is fastened with a flat and wide metal pin or something.
middle dress. i love all bathrobe dress things. reminds me of this rodebjer kimono dress/coat/something/whatever/it/is/it's/pretty/cool:
