just wanted to share a little about ambience...so people who have auditory hallucinations (schizophrenics, mostly) are usually highly aware of their ambient surroundings. this is crucial for being able to distinguish between the real sounds and the hallucinations. hallucinations are always a little "off" and don't quite match up with the ambient noise. for example, you may be speaking to someone and then at the same time you are hearing a second or third voice. the "fake" voices also seem (to me, at least) to sound louder when there's more wind or ambient/distracting noise, if that makes sense. so it doesn't quite match up with nature or logic. if you are hallucinating under great distress, then it's harder to be able to focus enough to discern the real from the fake, but if you are able to be attentive, it is always possible to separate reality with practice.Statistics: Posted by sparkyoriental — Tue Mar 18, 2014 12:43 pm
