He strikes me as a pretty detail-obsessive type (he has an essay about buying vintage watches that's worth reading) and he's written tons of times about Japanese re-interpretations of American pop culture so it seems a pretty natural fit imo.

The cool part of that is that it exists because he wrote about the main character of Pattern Recognition wearing a Buzz Rickson MA-1, but they didn't produce an MA-1 at the time so they made one named after him.

I think there's a funny association between extremely skinny looking cool and extremely baggy looking cool. I watched the first episode of that American Horror Story show today. It's not very good but it's extremely watchable, a lot of good actors clearly relishing being able to ham it up and spout ridiculous dialogue. And I have a soft spot for witches so we'll see where this goes.

I've been re-reading this it's still amazing.

Imagine if supreme or hood by air or something found a picture of some hypebeast wearing something of theirs really badly and printed that image on a shirt and that became a really hyped item and a bunch of people wore it badly.
