Recently got this wool rider from MKI and I feel like the sleeves are abit too big. And I'm thinking I could get this altered at a tailor since it's wool.

yea, the stitching i think connects the upper and mid soles. The nails are there to hold this piece of leather over the soles.
It's good to know that some high end brands use glue construction as well. Could you tell me which other brands uses glued construction?

I was in love with my new derbies from barny nakhle until I found out tonight that the soles and the upper parts are coming apart for the glue holding them together isnt doing the job. Pretty sure it aint supposed to happen just after about a week.. Hopefully antonioli would accept my refund request...
