prices are slightly higher than what i would have expected. t-shirts are 2,000 yen less than regular uc, sweaters are maybe 10,000 less. i guess it splits the difference between uu and mainline uc in terms of pricing, though if that jacket is $600 the parka has to be like $800 or something. also i have no idea if this will be released in the usa/eu but one of the nice things about uu was that prices were consistent regardless of location.

i like that two-toned shirt though.

I don't know if I 100% buy the "uniqlo went +j" theory because I think uniqlo was already pretty +j. Though my memories of +j are fading... fading away...

I also don't know if you can say Undercover isn't "exclusive". Maybe in the sense that you can just buy it on Mr Porter, sure, but things are still limited and super expensive right? Just checking Oki-Ni rrp on the knits is £600, there's a pair of socks for £50 and this set of badges has been generously reduced to only £109

My JohnUNDERCOVER stuff came in today. There's no point in taking pictures because they'll look the same as the shots all over the internet, but i picked up


and


First, the shoes. This is the...fourth pair of undercover shoes I own and they're very nice. like germinal, i was never a fan of slip-on sneakers, and, to be honest, am still not on board despite my penchant for never unlacing any sneakers i own. the bulkiness of the overall shoe, the puffiness at the heel coupled with the fleece peeking out are what sold me and i'm pleased to say that i like them as much in person as looking at pictures on the internet. the toe has some structure to it which i think will prevent it from flattening and the sole is pretty damn thick. they make my authentics look like little tin tubs compared to the hulking tugboat in the harbor of my sneaker collection. I am worried about the fleece catching stink since it doesn't make sense to wear these with socks, although i may find myself doing exactly that because the little elastic bits rub the feet at points of contact. we'll see which one rubs down first.

as to the shirt, couldn't be happier with the velvet details, though i worry about washing it given my aversion to ironing. the material is a totally unremarkable poplin and the shirt details are pretty similar to anything jun's put out: double seams going down the arm, square cuff slightly shrunken with two buttons, square guantlet (whatever that part of the shirt is called). the collar is soft and a little bit shrunken and i'm pleased to report that the shirt features seven buttons instead of six or five(!).

of note, the tags are actually a little nicer than regular undercover and were attached to the shirt via tiny metal hook thing through a button hole rather than just plastic tethers. the shoes came in dustbags.

neither item is going into rotation until the weather cools down a bit so i don't sweat right through them. either way, Good Purchases.

Feel a lot more interested in johnUndercover than normal undercover. It's nice and boring. Those men's nono pics look great.
