How do I Look?

Different kind of look than I normally wear, but I got these sandals in today (for primarily comfort / bumming it over summer reasons), so I thought I'd try out a different look. Thoughts? I guess a relaxed white t shirt would be good here ?

Trying to figure out how to work with these dungarees, I was thinking of getting them tailored to the leg is tapered but i'm not sure. (apologies for the god-awful lighting)




idk i have to pinroll them otherwise they flare really oddly and i'd prefer to just cuff them normally without the pinroll, does it look okay as is?

upon trying it on again, it seems like the shortness was just the picture. The camera was just sitting on a chair in the original, tripod in this one. I got it off Rak used and the fabric folds at the edges like it's been washed, so I'm pretty sure it has been.

the second button pulls a tiny bit when the top button is unbuttoned, but I'm thinking it's not that big of a deal. It's not actually that tight like I remember it.

Thoughts? A size up probably wouldn't hurt.

I don't think so? I don't know, I wanted a short-sleeved shirt that wasn't plain colored and this also had a cool felt design on the sleeve for a decent price on Rak, so I went for it. Kind of wish I had chosen another vis shirt instead because it had a more interesting design.

Regardless, I'm probably gonna end up selling it simply because I haven't worn it but once since I bought it.

Looking for critique. If entire segments of clothes need to be replaced/burned in your opinion, that is fine with me.

1. I like the colors. I recognize the shirt is way big. Questions: 1. should the shirt be slim fit (or more fitted) or would that create too boring a look? 2. air maxes working here? and if not what to sub in? Any other general thoughts on making this better?


2. I think my issue here is that the shirt is too big in the chest and not long enough. How can I emphasize the shape of pants in a cool way (without becoming a complete blob, which, while cool is not what i want) Also, I eat too much balsamic vinegar for white tees to be a great option--what to replace? Any other general thoughts on making this better?

Button down in 1 looks too big and too short. Personally, I think the chunkiness of the air maxes paired with light wash jeans look a little too much like what an actual dad would wear so maybe try a slimmer shoe? Dont know what other pairs you have but I think something like Stan Smiths might be a better choice. For the second one, try a gray linen/cotton blend shirt with more open neckline, like a U or scoop neck. The gray wont show stains as much as white but it still has enough contrast with the pants so you wont look like a blob.

Bought some long 501's to cuff with. Suggestions for spicing this fit up? Thinking white or black 70's cons could fit the jizz. Ft. the American Apparel denim jacket that I should probably pick up finally.

Picked up the last Medium EG Linen Shop Coat from Independence. Can't really figure out what to wear with it. Got ragged on pretty hard for it. Had an existential crisis when I realized that I care way too much about what people think. Got a blazer in the mail today. Surgery is necessary, but I'm not 100% sure on what. Sleeves will probably have to be shortened and def. need tapering. Does the body need any taper though? Body feels a tad loose. Jacket looks like it's pulling depending on how I stand, but I think it's mostly just an issue with my posture when the photo is taken.

I got this jacket at a vintage store last weekend, but I'm not as keen on the fit as I could be. Does anyone have ideas of what kind of tailoring it needs? I'm thinking the sleeves need some work, but not sure how so? Also not sure if it's working with the jeans here or not. Any help/suggestions would be super appreciated!

bought it off on grailed. Length fits and sleeves are a tad short, in 3-4 months I'll be 2 big for it absolutely. It's edging that point of too small but a small amount of bunching and angle made it look shorter than it actually is

I love it tho, such a shame I'm 2 big for M. Jumped from S to L in 3 months lmao yikes

pattern matching is mad tricky and anyone who sees some of the fits I bounce off them can attest to the fact it's easy to mess up. Or at least that I'm bad at it - and I have so many patterns to try it with!

So the "one pattern per outfit" is typically good advice unless you REALLY know what you're doing. Second fit patterns dont match but you're definitely onto something with color palette - beige / olive / navy all work excellent together and an outfit that combines all in any configuration tends to look good.

Wearing a shirt as an overshirt I also think tends to not look so great unless you really do it right - I'd recommend a shirt jacket like a BDU shirt.

When it comes to matching the striped shirt with olive and sandals... I LOVE this fit from EG ss15. For patterned stuff an easy thing to do is bring out one of the colors of the pattern with a solid colored item and this outfit is an awesome example.

Pattern matching is hard, mostly because I don't really "get" it and I'm not sure what avenues I could use to learn how to "get" it.

I've been experimenting SO much lately, this was just another little test I ran, and it was wonderful to get your advice on it

pattern matching is mad tricky, the most obvious factor is colour, choose patterns that go well together in terms of colour and it will probably look great (that doesn't necessarily mean matching), easier said than done but I do feel like people often give colour way too little attention in outfits in general

the more difficult thing is to make it look effortless, which is really important for pattern matching imo, that obviously comes down to styling, what kind of garments you are wearing, what kind of person you are. clashing colours and print styles can be a good way to look effortless, or like you are trying way too hard

dries ss14 looks amazing on the catwalk but a lot of the looks would be extremely hard to pull off on the street, I think you have to think very carefully about what message matching certain patterns sends about you and whether that matches your personality, for me it has to be effortless and a part of that is not worrying about it too much or taking an artificial route to 'understanding' it through rules. remember clothing is much more about personality than anything else

I know that we struggle with it a bit at TEF and haven't really styled looks this season but gone for more individual pieces but it's definitely got amazing potential and is quite unexplored in general

Not sure how I feel about this shirt (Real mccoys USN tropical weight shirt). It's a nice colour. but also really expensive. and I'm now feeling like I should have just bought something from story instead (hello hank 8 time jacket).
