After getting caught in another downpour today, I've decided I need to get a decent waterproof hooded coat/parka.
Should be:
-black, grey or navy
-slightly longer than waist length
-not too 'technical', for want of a better a word
-detachable liner would be advantageous
Basically, I want a coat like this Marg one but obviously cheaper. Happy to buy used. Any suggestions? Ta.

This is a tough quest my friend. Can you accept a logo?
John Lewis has a parka with a detachable lining. Don't think it's very waterproof though

For something that's fairly minimal looking and waterproof you could go scandi fisherman coat style:
Rains
Norse Projects (slightly more expensive but still a lot less than Marg) This one is a bit longer than the basic elka
Stutterheim is in a similar vein but more expensive again. Actually surprised to note on the Stutterheim website banner "Raincoats and jackets from £125" until I realised the only coat that's actually £125 is the child's version LOL.

Logo might be acceptable. JL looks alright but so does the Jigsaw one. Out of interest was your own quest ever successful?
Don't mind the design of those coats but not sure about the material. The Elka I saw at Oi Polloi looked (and felt) like a giant rubber glove. Then again, the Marg is 'rubberised cotton' so might be similar.
Ta for the other recommendations.

I ended up getting a Muji Labo parka which isn't even water repellant, so I don't know if that was a great buy.
There's a gore tex adidas thing on bay now, no lining but it's waterproof and xs:

goretex uhdeeduhs consortium stuff is very "technical" but so is anything that's even semi good at being waterproof that doesn't suck in every other way (aka stutterheim) (nanamica/vis wool coats that hide the fact that they're 3L gore notwithstanding)
some better pics of that jacket:
http://havenshop.ca/latest-news/adidas- ... outerwear/detachable liner, cheap, and waterproof are probably similar to good, cheap, and fast anyway, you're probably better off layering underneath a shell really

Think there was a Ventile parka out there somewhere but Ventile doesn't come cheap.
I'd get the look and functionality from the john lewis one and then buy an umbrella or something, but your outside time may vary.

Need to get away from wearing semi-wide pants all the time, want something to really go with the wind this time.
I usually wear 29"-pants or size S/M and I find it quite difficult to find a pair of wide pants that dont get too wide or that will sag in a weird way due to the waist being too wide.
Been contemplating getting either these CDG H+-pants ( size L, waist 32" )
But these Yohji-pants appeal more to me when it comes to the material, dont know bout the lower crotch though.
33" waist, shorter length - 39" outseam. Love the details on the hem. These cost a bit more of course..
Sorry for the long post, just want to try something new without failing horribly.
THANKS!

been constantly on the lookout for a "cool high quality fabric" pair of wool trews to experiment in semi formal minimalist garb (aka I have mono docs and a white shirt) but these look to be killing the game, obviously not a huge hit on the wallet but is there something that would be lost on about the maggie howell aesthetic as a person largely into street/techwear? am I overthinking this? would you pay $35 shipped for these pants? also they are the correct inseam for my short ass legs and already cuffed. + 1 million points.
http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/blow ... 590422628/plz don't buy them out from under me

Been looking for a cool pair of wool pants myself for the option of some ~~artful pooling~~ but its hard finding a pair that is both inexpensive and 34 inseam. Anywhere I should be looking?

What are the best t-shirts to buy in bulk? I'd prefer neutrals with a bit of stretch to them, especially with some longevity built in.

Boglioli £400 50wool/50cotton blend
OR
Caruso £700 100% wool
To replace my previous grey suit. I have a black tie suit, a summer garden party suit, a margaret cotton patch pocket suit and my Faze Miyake double breasted evening suit so this would be for things like:
- Semi formal evening weddings
- Job interviews
- sixth form formals
