Future Beauty: 30 Years of Japanese Fashion

This is the exhibition catalog for the "Future Beauty" exhibition, a retrospective of the last 30ish years of Japanese fashion. The exhibition centered around Issey Miyake, Yohji Yamamoto and Rei Kawakubo and included younger designers such as Tao Kurihara and Jun Takahashi.

I'd really recommend the book if you're interested in the work of these designers.

I stole the non-scanned photos from somewhere (Style Forum, I think). Photo album is for bigger photos.




Flatness

Each Comme Des Garcons dress is photographed on a mannequin and laid flat on the ground. Their 'flatness' references the construction and shape of the kimono.
