tried on the ma-1 kimono jack today. fits extremely small and they only had size 1-3 there unfortunately so didn't take a pic
also its like $2500 usd lol.
there's a robe this year that costs $120,000 that shane was telling me about. Some retired kimono-maker artisan guy hand painted the entire thing. he did the illustrations on these too:
and correspondingly they're like 1900 i think.
i don't normally like the "plain white tee w fancy pocket" thing but they had one with a shearling-eqsue pocket and the ma1 nylon for the flap which was pretty good.
the low skagways are really nice, especially the black w red triangles

i felt like I never really "got" visvim until reading that nakamura's background was in snowboarding and outdoor apparel. the aesthetic isn't straight americana/folk or straight techwear. it's a hybrid of the two. and those two styles are very hard to blend without looking awkward, which is why vis continues to stand out (and not blend into kapital, remi, 45rpm, patagonia etc.) it's folk applied to a techwear template. primitive dyes, processes etc applied to modern function. they're not trying to recreate the past, they're playfully exaggerating folk style to outdoorsy wear.

Other than the ballistic bags and maybe a jacket or two with gore (2.5L mostly too) they're not really making that aspect of the product anymore
Has skewed towards the retro side for a number of seasons now

got this ballistic (or lamina?) for ~80, not sure how much of the damage is intentional though? Also does anyone know what year this one is? (it has a beetle label but idk if that means it's cochineal dyed or if they ever actually did that.) It does look waterproof which is cool
re:yeah but I wonder if the way it's come apart is intentional? like the rust colored lining as the seams give away
