Hey I made a post on Reddit a few months ago about wide pants (my passion my love) and besides being kinda stiffly worded and clunky at times I still think it's okay! A lot of people weren't into it but that's the innernet for ya

Are wide trousers good or bad on a bike.

But what if you roll both trouser legs up to around knee height (pinroll optional?) Are they still bad?

Probably. I know high rise/drop crotch trousers are great for falling off when you're dismounting.

pretty shite. though if i do wear giant pants, i just wear giant socks and tuck my right pant leg in, though that looks doofy as hell. also, when i first started riding i got my dana lee pant leg aggressively stuck in my chain and ripped them all the way up the leg. so yea, dont do that.

I have really feeble trouser clips that can barely wrangle even a 511 tier pant so I don't even try on bigtrew.

I need to source a Premium, Artisan trouser clip manufacturer.

Are they actually bad for cycling? I'm surprised, I once rode a bike all throughout the cotswolds in skinny chino pants and it was simultaneously one of the loveliest and most uncomfortable experiences of my life

I guess shorts and tights are the only option

skinny chinos without stretch are also bad for cycling.

Big trew seldom have stretch so maybe that's the issue?

Looking forward to 2020 when Rapha release their elastane blend big trew with RAPHA logo embroidered around the cuff for when you roll it up and pink belt loops.

I ride sometimes in my big yohji jeans and just have to roll them up a little more, might have to invest in artisan trew clips when I start wearing bigguns though. Let me know if you find any!

yeh whenever i wore my massive yohji pants while biking I had to roll them high. they've still got some rips at the hem from where they got caught in the chain due to low rolls. no big deal tho, just unroll once you get off and let them pool

the boys at e tautz cycle in field pants and have no issues, I think they probably just roll them up a bit higher

I didn't think this was the case but it turns out that big trousers CAN get caught in belt drive bikes.

it's time i went for bigger pants, i'll always wear and love my ace cashes but diversity is good. gonna start with BDUs and go bigger from there. the endgame is hakama-style stuff – maybe more cropped than traditional hakama though

some interesting big pant stuff i've been feeling, a little bit different from traditional baggy styles (at what hem length do big pants become big shorts)

these trousers by basisbroek have very good dimensions, very close to being the ideal trouser for me especially with the slight lower crotch:

These are either some seriously big pants or he's resting his arm on a tent. Would 100% definitely buy camping supplies from Jan-Jan so hoping it's the latter.

Recently had some Tuki overpants that were quite nice. I was hoping they'd be flowy but they're made from ripstop cotton so not rly much drape unfortunately. however, they really opened my eye to how great balloon pants (and all pants with adjustable ankles) are.

You can wear them wide and uncinched
Image

you can kinda tighten them for a loose taper
Image

and you can fully tighten them for stronk taper
Image

so many options with just one pair of pants! you can even roll/cuff for interesting results.

- Only place to buy Tuki is from Japanese stockists or yahoo japan/rakuten/etc
