What are you looking for in a hood?
for some reason they never fit me right

my neck is too long for most hoods
best hoods are roomy, wire-brimmed and stay on your head in gale situations

i like the idea of huge hoods as normal hoods don't fit my head, but then big hoods fall and flap in my eyes and never look as good as the pics. so high neck/hat combo is preferred.
that said acr hoods look cool

a hood should have enough room for another knit or woven hood underneath, it should hold structure both on and off the head, it shouldn't be so big that it's floppy, and if it's a scuba hood it should have enough allowance for my big head and more importantly it shouldn't have two flaps that are buttoned in the middle under your chin
field brims, ornamentation, extra collars, triangle stitching for structure and adjustment features on the back are all plusses

Can't find a picture of this for some reason but I love hoods on ski jackets that have the clear windows on the sides so they don't block your peripheral vision. Very good feature, surprised more fashion oriented tech brands haven't adopted it.

A hood like this looks cool, but is not very practical. it really limits your FoV!
