stay based

basic/staples thread.

what are your favorite plain tees? your go-to pair of jeans? your everyday pair of sneakers? everyone has their "uniform," what's yours?

i'm looking for the perfect white tee, in both a slim and loose fit. it's harder than i imagined. the slightest nuance in fit can ruin it for me, and i'm especially picky about the texture/sheen of the tee. i've had success with h&m tees in the past, so hopefully i'll find what i need there.

I must own at least 20 white tees and tanks but none of them are perfect. and even if one is close to perfect, it loses its shape eventually. smdh

The best white tee I own is also an h&m one
The perfect slim black jeans is what I'm after, not too skinny, really black with a slight sheen, tonal stiching with a zip fly and elastane blended, acne is what comes the closest but is toĆ³ expensive and a pain in the ass to import where i live

My go to tees recently have been Velva Sheen tees. They're quite thick, though not obscenely so. Relatively short sleeves and body length and a bit on the boxy side (though they just look slim on me because I could probably go medium). The thing I like the most is how they relax in fit after many wears; they look worn in rather than destroyed. I definitely don't baby mine and they've turned out quite nicely.

I've been trying to get into scoop necks but haven't "taken the plunge" and actually purchased one. I've been making do with Hanes tees with the ribbing of the neck (or whatever it's called cut off). Kinda ehh but its been fine to get me used to tees with a lower neckline.

As far as jeans go, I really can't decide. For black it's my Uniqlo T000 Jeans. For blue, I have a pair of APC PS and some LVC 605s. I started lifting weighs and wore my PS's less, but my groin has been hurting when I squat heavy (help pls), so my PS have been fitting better since I lost mass on my thighs.

Beater shoes are Converse JPs. I like 'them.

I need tees but I keep getting fucking skinner holy shit. I mean I'd make RO tanks look good but then I'd have to drop daaa bills for a new wardrobe and I want to get more proportionate and bigger upperbody-wise :/

I would say BoO solid color ocbd shirts + MMM low top gats + WH chinos + No Show Falke socks would be my ultimate basic staple rotation. Everything color coordinates so so well.

Merz 20s tee is the closest thing I have to perfect but even on 50% off it was $55 so you'd have to really want to commit to that to wear them daily.

H&M t-shirts are shite but I still picked up some new ones today. Don't have AA or Uniqlo around here sadly.

Really keen to try Velva Sheen but I'm uncertain about sizing.

I bought five fruit of the loom white tees off Akkadian
Amazon but they are too small and the fabric feels kind of scratchy. I'm not even mad though because they're only for the gym and I'm psyched to be too big for an s

Uniqlo dry packaged or whatever they're called is all I wear for tees. Also have tried Dana Lee, W+H, OL, Hanes, Gildan, Norse, Mister and some other shit, but Uniqlo's are cheap and fit nice and boxy and long, also super soft after x amount of wears, which is nice. Also doesn't pill like HM etc.

Have you considered everlane, the radical new company delivering designer basics at affordable prices by cutting out the middle man?

Seriously though, what's your budget?

I swear by my Muji's mens black t-shirts. High neckline, doesn't suffocate my torso, and substantial.

I like bdg ones from uo at that price point. Very soft, little bit on the thin side, cut is pretty slim.

Kinda sucks how there's no women's equivalent of RC, say.

SUPIMA or DRY though?

Also when is UNIQLO re releasing last years linen cotton blend? I want a second chance now that I know how they shrink.

my H&M t-shirts shrink so fast that I can barely get 3 or 4 wears out of them before they don't fit at all anymore, what am I doing wrong?

SUPIMA is so worth it, not immediately obvious but the fit is not only boxier in the DRY, they stretch, then bobble. Those long staple cotton fibres really shine once they've been washed a few times.

I've emailed Uniqlo a few weeks ago about about the cotton-linen blend, at least the pocket tee is not being restocked AFAIK :( Such a shame as they're pretty much the natural airism and the pocket distracts from your lemon squeezers peering through the sheer fabric.

Yeah my wardrobe is mainly Supima. I like the fit on the dry tshirts though.

If they aren't restocking the linen cotton pocket shirts then what the fuck. Summer is RUINED, bring January back.
