Outlier Air Forged Oxford. Uses nylon instead of cotton. Pretty neat.

Just got it in today... fit's pretty well, shoulders feel a bit small but great elsewhere. The pivot design worked well when tucked in (for testing), didn't really pull out and muffin top when I was reaching around and up. Water beaded on it when I tested it which was really neat. Hopefully am able to write a better review after a while.

I want to know how it feels when you sweat it in. Not being able to absorb moisture sounds kind of icky?

It's basically a micro-sandwich — a high-efficiency filter and heat-exchange system. The skin-contact layer's porous. Perspiration passes through it, having cooled the body ... near-normal evaporation process. The next two layers . . . include heat exchange filaments and salt precipitators. Salt's reclaimed. Motions of the body, especially breathing and some osmotic action provide the pumping force. Reclaimed water circulates to catchpockets from which you draw it through this tube in the clip at your neck... Urine and feces are processed in the thigh pads. In the open desert, you wear this filter across your face, this tube in the nostrils with these plugs to ensure a tight fit. Breathe in through the mouth filter, out through the nose tube.

Outlier Nyco Freeshell. Wearing a tech jacket around San Francisco makes me feel like everyone else, but need something for the rain.

I like it so far but I've only had it for a day. If I was actually wearing it in the rain I'd probably go with my black dungarees, I think the color would match better too.

Cuffs are a little unusual though. If they're velcroed so that I can remove my arms/hands from it then they feel too loose and bulky. If I tighten them they look and feel much better but then it's annoying to velcro/unvelcro my cuffs everytime I put my jacket on/take it off. The fabric is nice and I like the contrast. The Nyco is positioned in a way that the lack of stretch never inhibits me.

I have to say that I've never been impressed by Outlier's cut and sew quality. A lot of the seams are just overlocked and not sewn flat, and I think it'd be nice if they were finished with piping. But whatever. Stuff like this kind of bugs me:

I also have no idea how to use this sling

I don't know if these have the thumb loop because I don't know what that is, but they fit your other criteria.

Which of these parkas is best?
I was originally leaning towards number 3 but are fishtails all hype?
Also worried about my teeny tiny wrists being too small for 1 and 2.

Thumb loops are for insecure teenagers ben. As a nine foot tall juggernaught twentysomething you're banned from using them. Sorry.

ptozzi, i really love the first; it's a rich and lovely and sliiightly unexpected colour and the elbow-patch things look cool and i'm really just a big fan of camel/tobacco outerwear. that said, kind of agree with germ that slightly longer would be preferable

don't know if fishtails are "all hype" but it's a bit easier for them to look a bit tired if you're wearing them when everyone else is/after everyone else is. i don't know how much you need to take that into account. as long as you like it and you can feel comfortable with the different ways you'd wear it...

in any case, outside of the internet no one's going to see the fishtail and think "damn it, another one!"
