What's the deal with surface to air? I don't know anything about that brand, just saw the boots on yoox.

i lump them in with other semi-fashionable, semi-expensive, nondescript labels like rag & bone, w+h, public school, acne, patrik ervell etc. which, depending on yr point of view, isn't necessarily a fair thing to say about some (or any) of the above

Surface to air stuff is pretty unexciting stuff - some of it is nice some isn't it's decent quality but not really it's expensive but not really. They had a bunch of stuff at a shop near my work (along with Ervell, Acne, Kitsune, Kenzo..) and some pieces were nice enough. The branding is reasonably prominent though so I guess they're shooting for streetwear people.
hmwut, can't get behind wearing a Fender cap, think it'll look like you're paid to lug amps on stage at worst and "someone who likes music" at best.

assuming overseas production and ll bean's size i'm sure it's quite decent at 300bux. i also think that the spectrum of quality for leather is quite small, you can put a toj next to a 5zip next to a rick leather and they are all different but at that point it's more about preference than quality.
i think shitty leather looks awesome destroyed anyways, i'd take doc martens-type corrected grain over cxl any day of the week

I think they're neat but do you need more sand suede derby type shoes?

I only have the wallies, which are a little silly. I feel like these fill a different hole, but I could just be tricking myself.

I don't think they do fill a different hole but I own about 5 pairs of white trainers.

I love everything with a chunky sole but don't think they fill a different hole than the wallabees
If the price is right go for it you'd look good with chunky soled shoes

I guess I mean they work with the workwear look- with jeans and a flannel, rather then the whimsical, as my mom calls them: 'loaf of bread' walleys. But I see where you're coming from. Will sleep on them for a couple days.

ben loves this british stuff.
Syek do you feel you act more "british" since you moved away? Heard this happens to people.

Yep, for sure. More when I first moved here but a lot less now. Didn't feel "british" until I left really. Weird how that works.
Loads of people I meet here enjoy the stereotypes and I play into it a bit for fun but it does get irritating after a while. I just want a cup of tea at work without someone winking and going "ah the British Cup Of Tea" with a knowing smile.
When hanging with an international crowd it can also be easily to fall into national identity during introductory conversations. Only so many times one can joke about world war II or empire though.

i've been looking for something like this but i'm not really feeling them and i'm not exactly sure why. is it the toebox? three eyelets is kinda weird i guess.

I quite like them. What are they? Was thinking I could do with something like that but probably not until next summer now.

they're from vanishing elephant. not sure about cost though, as i don't think they have been released yet. the webstore has a few pairs of similar suede chukkas for $250ish, but then some shop in new zealand has an old season model of these shoes for $350.
obviously i'd be way more inclined to consider them if they were $250

350 seems way out of line unless they're made by someone proper. Even 250 seems frowny to me. Nice design though, 3 eyelets make them look casual. You could get one of the cdb lowtop variants for a cheapo option maybe.
