I don't know too much about her; you can get detailed views of/purchase some of these pieces on if you've a mind to (could you also pay my rent for the year? thanks). The textiles used here are very much in a tradition of embroidery that I associate with the eastern end of South Asia, in this case in the Bihari fashion ('sujani'). This is an unusually abstract use of the style, it's normally more narrative:

Image

(I don't really know what's happening in this piece but it's definitely narrative, can't argue that.)

Family photograph, mid '70s. I don't think colour photography was common in India till the 80s. My mother on the right is trying to be stylish and of-the-moment with her big drape.

When you wear a wool jawn at your mom's for like, one evening and then when you put it on next everyone at work starts sniffing and looking around the office and saying like "Is that food? Is someone cooking? What's that smell?"

Grandparents from sometime in the 70s or maybe late 60s (?) My grandfather is looking so cool with the massive collar and grandma is looking awesome with her white sari.

Like quite a bit of the mid-high-end stuff I see coming out of India in particular, the textiles are very good and cool and 100 emoji but I'm not convinced that the styling and tailoring live up to the goodness of the textile fabrication. I still find it interesting though.

Bodice ()

Bodice is cool and this is a cool collection. It's nothing outstandingly new but it is very COMFORTING and GOOD VIBES Y. I would probably wear most of it.

i like this mix of cdg/yohji/lemaire/skatewear mostly worn by non-white kids in places like marseilles. like this:

https://www.instagram.com/blancxivoire/?hl=en

or, as someone said, those lownn bros.

refreshing after over a decade of the prevalent trend being hedi/christopher bailey's creepy fetishization of skinny white boys.

A book a stumbled upon whilst browsing on amazon, Indigo: The Colour that Changed the World, have some cool images of indigo dying and usage in India since it is the oldest centre of indigo dyeing and domestication.

Another really interesting article about Indigo and the Indigo Revolt in Bengal during the colonial period:

If you'd like to come with me sir you've been selected for a random search.

Kudos to stoney for putting brown man in their ad campaign though. Plenty bowling about perry barr in it so it's about time they acknowledged it.
