I think I like packable equipment, and especially rain gear, so much because feeling prepared for the unexpected is cool to me. Also being able to feel prepared and show dominance over nature with a full set of rain gear that deploys from your backpack (also packable of course) is a neat concept to me.

I have yet to meet anyone who actually functionally uses packable fashion gear. I've met a couple who are into ultralight travel/hiking but the endgame there always looks the same - backpacks made of modified IKEA bags.

I keep a in my backpack sometimes for when I think it might get cooler in the evening.
