I've never wanted a denim jacket until now. I'm guessing Haven doesn't have it up on their site yet, and I am guessing it's SISP, and I am guessing that it will cost me both my arms and my legs. If anyone has seen it in person/knows the price feel free to put me out of the misery of pretending I could own this.

Hey c-t friends! So I'm moving to Macedonia next month for a two-year stint with the Peace Corps. Macedonia gets down to 0º (fahrenheit) in the winter, so I need some winter boots and a winter coat (and an insulated sleeping bag, but that's not really clothing-related). I've never lived outside of California, though, so I pretty much don't know where to start at all. My only thought is that my Timbs won't cut it in 0º.

I also need a BACKPACK since my old one is pretty much broken and dead. Goals: it will be able to hold a whole bunch of stuff, it will be made for someone who is very short (me), and it will look at least sort of cool.

Thoughts:

Any thoughts/suggestions are appreciated!

EDIT: Oops, 0º fahrenheit. My bad.

The second pack is better looking.

I actually think you'd be fine with timbs, 0 C isn't that cold really and if you have a proper coat and thick socks on your feet shouldn't be cold.

If you need coat recommendations give us a price range/maybe some pics of things you like.

Are bucket hats still acceptable headwear? If so anyone know of a decent olive one?

looking for some black 8" (up to 10") combat boots between $100 - 300 (preferably 200 and under, willing to buy used) to wear with cargos, but having a tough time finding anything ideal. Want a 1-1.5" heel height, preferably a zipper but not a deal breaker.

Thinking corcoran plain toe's are my best bet currently. Only downsides are no zipper for the plain toe version and i'd prefer a slightly smoother toebox, and would probably prefer a more matte leather, but perhaps the shine would go away with wear

any suggestions? thanks much!

update: got the corcoran plain toes, love them. thanks!

I've found a pair of WTAPS x Vans Era LX in half a size smaller than what I wear in a true white Authentic. Are they going to be too small? They're a really good price but I'd hate for them not to fit.

do any of you care-friends have experience/inspo for unstructured suits? I'm talking about something like 2 layers of bedsheet fabric thick for the whole garment. sort of ~extreme~ casual suiting i guess? thanks in advance

probably closer to the EG bedford, but I really don't know. What I'm thinking of is a completely unstructured suit made of bedsheets.

Follow up question (sorry)

If you had to pick between grey herringbone pants and lightwash jeans which would you picK? My mom said she will only buy me one because i got a new pair of pants for school and so I have to pick. I am putting a brown sweater on my christmas list for when winter hits, so I want the best pant choice to go with that. i dont want to look overtly fashion forward like i am trying to make statements. i just want to look like i belong to a higher social class than i do. with white shoes

Thank you

I would recommend herrigbone pants for that, jeans are often associated with manual labour (it's not your fault you didn't know, you're too young!) where as herringbone pants suggest you spend more time behind the desk than making it. It will also create a timeless, not trendy! Look with the sweater. Hope this helps.

I constantly get reminded of an uncle who dressed as badly as he could in order to buy a car. Nobody wanted to deal with him, but the one dealer who did apparently got a nice commission since the car was paid in full, in cash, instantly. The moral I took away (which is probably twisted, wrong, and against moral fiber): if everyone only expects the least from you, any improvement is a benefit.
