does anyone have any 'care' tips for prolonging the collar, armpits and cuffs of light shirts?
after about 18 months, the collar of a thom ocbd looks scuzzy as f. I still wear it under sweaters but it is harder to enjoy it.
at about 4 years, I gave a old gray uniqlo ocbd an overnight bleach soak and I was pretty heavy handed with the bleach. in the morning it came out pink, but the pit stains remain, now a sickly brain-grey color.
if bleach can't cure it, can anything? whinefields has put me onto the ivy tradition of having a tailor reverse and resew the collar. but I don't know how well this would work, I don't know if you could reverse the collar band (this is usually the worst offender), I don't know if you can reverse the cuffs, I don't know many tailors that skilled and generally it seems like a low effort:return ratio.
at this point I think I will stop investing in lighter colored 'baller' shirts. which is a shame because blue and white ocbds are the king and queen of ocbds, and it's very rare/impossible to find all the right details on a button down without spending around 200$ retail. this might be a little snobbish but I could never go back to wearing a uniqlo caliber collar after being used to bb, gbv, and thom browne.
can anyone enlighten me on shirt care?
