I got a chance to checkout some of the FW Public School collection today. I know they're not everyones favorite brand here but I remembered seeing the lookbook online when it came out and being pretty hyped on it.
It was really disappointing in person, there was nothing I wanted except maybe a dip dye flannel but not for $350. I thought maybe Barneys just had shitty buys, so I went back to the lookbook to analyze the actual clothes and realized that styled together and in a very specific way I like it, but either I would have no idea how to incorporate the individual pieces into my wardrobe, or they were disappointing when viewed up close.
It's making me rethink how I look at online collections and lookbooks.

That's how I have to look at almost all 'cool' clothing. Where I'm from I'd look like such a goof in 90% of internet fashion.

started to feel like that too ryce, selling off some of my more 'fashion' pieces as what ben said a few months back has finally started to resonate with me. 18 y/o kid dressed up in ninja costumes just looks like i watch too much avatar but the joke is it cost most my pay check. still keeping the rick tho as it just looks like Nike and it's all sorts of comfortable. i just dress like a randie now.

That's kind of a bummer to hear. I always liked the idea of being able to fuck around with how you dress when you're younger, because once you start working your wardrobe choices becomes very constrained. Like as a 29 year old I feel I'm too old to wear a lot of the crazier shit I see, I can't even bring myself to wear high tops.

t-paine, you are definitely cool enough to wear high tops! don't feel limited by your age
i've never had the experience of wearing super out-there stuff relative to my environment so i'm still a bit attracted to it, i guess. would be super cool to run around wearing a pedro lourenco gilet but that's not gonna happen owing to $$$$ constraints. interesting that so many people i know who have dressed in a rather idiosyncratic style feel like drawing back to greater "normalcy"

Good to see you on here maj. The way we dress has started to converge, I feel. Luckily I haven't bought too many things that aren't wearable, but it's been good to keep perspective on what I'm spending my money on.

it's still hitting the 90s on some days where i am, though there is definitely a more fall feel to the weather. I still try to wear pants, as i don't really own any nice shorts

The Row is the Olsen Twins' line. from what little i've talked with hooplah about it i think it's been fairly well received

putting colorful soles on otherwise normal leather shoes (walk over, sebago, cole haan) is my favorite high street trend of the last few years. i believe cole haan deserves that credit

@schia: holy shit, you're alive. Now to find marsh.
I think The Row is decent. iirc it's very cleanly designed. I wonder if they would probably have more of a reputation if they weren't run by the olsen twins?

Do dudes wearing cycling caps off the bike get a pass by the same reasoning as "jeans when not gold panning, work boots when not at work"?

cycling caps always look dorky but they look triple dorky off the bike; embrace that or don't.

By mid-afternoon my airism undershirts smell fucking awful. Am I the only one with this problem? I've only worn them a handful of times.

Yeah they're a poly / spandex blend. They're supposed to have an odor neutralizing coating or something though, but it doesn't seem to do anything for me.
