Whenever I travel I never have a convenient place to hold my passport and ticket without crumpling them. I guess airport jacket is the answer.

Left: me heading to the airport recently; Right: in Brighton a few years ago
This trusty coat of mine was from Yohji's AW06 collection which I've had for years now. My best guess is that it's made of half-boiled wool fabric because it has a slightly coarse texture, but is extremely soft and hardly wrinkles. Even if wrinkles were to appear they never look out of place (wabi sabi much?). As you can see it's large enough for me to wear several layers underneath, and best of all it's got deep waist pockets, chest pocket and even pockets at the tails! Rick has nothing on Yohji when it comes to pockets for passport and sammich.

YVR -> SFO, SFO -> NRT, NRT -> ICN so far, ICN -> HKG booked for the 26th, then mostly likely HKG to HKT, and probably HKT to DPS and DPS to YVR. I also flew YVR to YMM roundtrip 8 or 9 times this summer.
Passport in the left pocket, sandwhich in the right, book in the top of my rucksack. Hoodies are the ideal airport jack, hard to fuck up a zip when some douche in security is yelling at you to move quicker, and the zip up pockets ensure peace of mind so you don't do that amateur hour panic check that your wallet/cellphone/drug money are where they're supposed to be. fuck a blazer forreal

Zip pockets are a must-have for me. Can throw my wallet, phone, keys, rings, etc all in there and zip it up and then just chuck the whole thing in the X-ray tub thingy

Important issue: Is a hoody an airport jacket? Or is it just something you wear in an airport.
Does an airport jacket need to evoke romantic notions of the rumpled traveller, elegant and raffish?
I was on the fence but have decided that though anything can be an airport jacket, surely the perfect airport jacket should evoke the previously referenced notions.

an airport jacket is a religious icon. you look through it in order to see the past: you see our forefathers smiling in front of a prop plane on hand reeled film. we honor a time where going to the airport to fly was a very special occasion, and one dressed appropriately. American airports anymore are a wasteland of macbooks, uggs, LOVE PINK, and G-star Raw, but we brave few soldier on to preserve something very important.
an airport jacket can be any combination of a blazer, mackintosh, trench, chesterfield, etc. no true jetsetter flies without at least one set of lapels.
LL Bean Town and Field Blazersturdy enough to be thrown around or packed up, zip pocket inside for the x-ray, perfect blend of casual and formal to keep others guessing whether you travel for business or pleasure.
VisvimVisvim blazers have a great unstructured three-dimensionality to them which suggests rugged charm and class. This well aged cotton/linen blazer says, 'this is not my first trip abroad.'

does anyone on CT not fly economy though? think the effect is largely ruined unless its at least business class, preferably first, preferably a ticket you expensed out to the company credit card, preferably on any foreign airline with air hostesses that could be described as "dimes" and supply free booze/ don't charge for checked bags.
Edit: this thread is now for pics of george clooney in the movie "up in the air"

this cos jacket is surprisingly spacious
there are two inside pockets, but there are four front pockets, contrary to its outwards appearance. two decent-sized pockets on each side, very discrete too. picture quality not great, but hopefully you get the idea.
