can't say i know the feel and whatnot of quality linen but I have this Frank & Oak one from like, 2 years ago (?) or so when they first came out and it's still pretty nice. has held up p-well and I plan to use it this summer. might pick up some this summer depending what they drop and i can do a "review" sorta thing.

I was in gap and they had some nice looking linen blend shirting. They also had some really lightweight cotton shirting that looked good too.

Linen cotton blends can work out very well as they don't crease so powerfully.

So who is making "better than uniqlo" level linen that isn't so long it can't be worn untucked?

I eBay'ed a couple linens from Brooks Brothers and Jcrew, both are worlds ahead of uniqlo in terms of linen feel, Brooks Bros is long and very traditionally cut, but the J Crew one is actually really nice and a semi-tailored cut. Don't think linen should be too slim. Can find both on the bay for less then 20 bucks, in the states at least.

I'm planning to get a couple of linen t shirts but should I go for H&M or Uniqlo? They're $9.99 versus $12.90 respectively so either way it isn't much of a gamble.

where is that jacket (shirt?) from in your picture on the previous page?

thrifted this beautiful popover last week ($1.40!). one of bobbin's recent outfits featured a wonderful yellow shirt, and i was set on something yellow for summer. this is it!

the buttons are lovely too.

Went ahead and ordered two linen shirts and a scarf (not for summer) from Uniqlo and two linen shirts from H&M. I'll try to review/comment on them later if I remember to.

Also finally bought light wash jeans, 510's in sung blue, nothing special really. Next for summer: all black Vans slip-ons, all white Superga's, and maybe two pairs of shorts. Then I think I'll be fine.

The Muji linen button up shirts have a nicer hem than the Uniqlo ones. It's flat, then curves up at the sides which makes it easier to wear untucked in my mind, compared to the Uniqlo linens which have a normal sort of curved hem.

Muji linen also has very #functional locker loops

So thumbs up for Muji linen? Thinking about getting that ecru coloured one. Is sizing true?

Also, this linen one looks nice...

I feel burned by high street quality clothing right now though

linen trousers are a fake concept, never go above 50% linen in leg coverings

over 50% linen is a very real concept but requires a significant reworking of your outfit. You can't just drop in some 100% linen trousers. They aren't modular.

Linen also gets really cold if the temperature drops so in the evening it's pretty much bs.

linen trousers are a false concept but this is only because pants in summer is a false concept. linen shorts and linen shirts rule.

Linen shorts defeat the purp somewhat because light coloured linen keeps you cooler than if your skin was bare.

Image

hoist by your own petard here stapp because surely you're unable to posit that mum's on holiday is a fake concept?

Holiday mums is probably one of the most powerful concepts around.

Technical sandals, 100% linen trousers, garish and loose fitting top, floppy sun hat, giant bag full of sandwiches?
