Where did you walk past him? You know for the longest time I thought Post were a heritage brand that was bought and reinstated (a la Velva Sheen, Carters etc.) and only recently realised they're not. I'm oddly happy/reassured that you had to explain who they are.

the post oalls store is a block from me, next to inventory.

I've been in a couple times, he's the only person who works there. I always want to geek out over the chain stitch runoff and stuff but he either thinks I'm an idiot or is extremely shy because he never takes the bait. one time I compared the brand to 45rpm and he got offended and I left.

Bobbin where do you stand on Mister Freedom? or post o'alls or any other brand that doesn't do repro items but designs with the same fetish for vintage

the second question is, have you ever encountered the Italian denim brand 7bell of Tuscany // manifatture 7? if so, impressions?

He's probably sick to death of it. I'd buy 45rpm over post any day -- maybe he has some kind of fued? I'd like to see the guys from Kapital, Post and 45RPM have a good old fight.

Mister Freedom looks quite nice, I haven't got any but I've considered it quite a few times. I like that MF has a 'character' which is sorely lacking in 98% of the brands that tout WORKWEAR/AMERICANA/RAW DENIM. I like that the pieces are all cut a bit odd and that theres quite a large middle-aged white man following (considering the cuts can be unsympathetic). MF and Tender are the nicest denim brands that regularly appear on SuFu I reckon, although Rising Sun, Red Cloud and a couple of others are cool too.

Never heard of 7bell/manifatture 7, but I just had a look at the site and it doesn't look like my type of thing. This is just me, but whenever I see a brand like this touting (from the website) 'Horween Leather', 'Japanese selvage', 'insert buzzword here' it usually (not always) feels safe (in a bad way). Italy has some of the most amazing denim mills (candiani, for one) and they've passed that up. Of course there's nothing wrong with Japanese denim, and they look like they've done lots of research, but I'm a bit bored of it all. You thinking of buying something?

I ask because the 'presidents 7bell' line is a sort of reinstating of one of the first (maybe the first) Italian denim brands (manifatture 7 bell) from the (iirc) 40s. but now it's in the hands of the grandsons of the original family and they design with the visvim approach of 'spare no expense' -- speaking with the only store in NYC who stocked them, he told me they weren't happy with any of ykk's offerings so they had their own zippers manufactured.

I have a pair of white jeans from them which, by my eyes, surpasses any other denim brand I've seen (45rpm, visvim, all the Japanese repro brands). the presidents stuff definitely isn't to your taste but I thought you might know something about the parent company and its history

That actually sounds really good! Is there anything different about the zippers except the quality? Technically most brands have to get their metalwear made up for them -- we aren't going with YKK either so scovill are making up what we want for our garments. I'll look into them though! I bet my girlfriend already knows all about them. So embarassing.

I think white jeans may be the only thing I'd never wear?

I don't remember much about the zippers. they were storm zippers for their hard shell and I hate all waterproof zippers. the jacket was very nicely seam taped with a nylon chambray that looked impressive. fuck hard shells tho

I got the jeans because the price was right and I wanted to wear the brand. I don't know what white jeans mean to most people but I wear them as often as blue jeans. I will take some photos soon because the detailing blows most others out of the water

outer->inner, top->bottom: uc, uu, uu, grangecraft(noviz), mcnairy. i've done the sweater without the shirt but that's a different look. kinda felt like 'sophomore at almost ivy in fall, 1958' or something with the ocbd and new haircut.

Obviously, I like the shirt under the jumper but I have to agree that it doesn't scream "trash" to me. Then again there's something sort of funny about wearing a boring person's uniform but twisted.

Trousers fit great but I wonder what would happen if you unrolled them a bit?
