cool Astrid garms but i don't think the outfit is really working. Knowing what the astrid and story stuff feels like, i'd say the story jacket is definitely the wrong material for the nylon and mesh-y fabrics. A lightweight cotton material would work best I think. or something with fur, haha. as others said, the colors on the raf shoes feel kind of weird with the lemon green. The campers would go better I think, or maybe sandals if you have some.

Cotton Ventile is still meant to keep you dry somewhat, no? It's what bird watchers use. I'm of the understanding it soaks up water and becomes sodden, but doesn't drip. So if you have a lining, you should be dry.

Similar material got used on one of my saddle bags ("duck" cotton) and nothing in there ever got wet even though I left the bike outside in the rain every night.

Also number 1 lad fits are always great.

Also not sure why people are beefing heck's choice of footwear? raf seems fine there. Sundae jacket on the other hand is a bit of an indulgence.

Ventile is a densely woven cotton fabric. When it gets wet it expands and basically keeps the water from reaching your body. Double layer ventile is best for waterproofing.

lots of conflicting information on whether Ventile the textile has a dwr application. I think it might be something that's applied after the fact. There's another textile coming out Switzerland which may or may not have dwr etaproof. super confusing.

My PWVC ventile is definitely DWR

In the words of ben:

"If it beads, it's DWR."

I think basically what ben says is true, there's Ventile Cotton and Ventile (R) and the one soaks, the other has DWR. Both will keep you dryish.

ACR uses that etaproof stuff, no?

There's also something Howies uses called Epic Cotton which is apparently coated before weaving.

that would make sense. Given that Dwr doesn't have a super good reputation especially in the way the Ventile is talked about as a grail textile, the manufacturers would want to downplay the dwr aspect. Klattermusen and Acr use etaproof, and Tilak uses ventile but I think they are all made in the same factory in the czech republic.

correct me if I'm wrong but the thing that separates ventile from regular cotton is that ventile only uses the longest staple length cotton

Believe it is a particularly tight weave as well

The cotton yarn is really dense and it is tightly woven in a oxford/basket style to create a flat surface for waterproofing.

I think was correct in saying the tee makes this too top-heavy, your proportions look bad here. If the tee wasn't so long, or if you embraced the top block and had a long sleeve piece, the bottom would look a lot better. What was saying - however harsh - is true as well, good pieces, but they're thrown together in a pretty haphazard way that makes none of them as remarkable as they could be.
