Last time my dentist offered to do me a filling without anasthesia I practically jumped out the chair and grabbed her by the lapels and cried and pleaded until she agreed I needed the injection

"But your face will be numb for hours afterwards."
"I'd rather be numb thanks."

Had them top off an existing filling (or whatever you want to call it) at the same time they were filling a new one. They didn't feel that that side needed numbing...

When I was younger, the anesthesia (this was for a cavity and for pulling teeth so my braces could work) that the dentist I went to would make me super fucking nauseous and vomit at least 2-3 times (I actually felt the anesthesia wearing off when they were pulling my teeth but it made me feel so fucking bad that I just rolled with the pain) so when I got a second cavity I asked to do it without. It was OK and not too bad. Then I switched dentists and had another cavity and when I asked to not use it they said they had a different anesthesia and it wouldn't make me nauseous and holy shit was it better. I could probably do cavity fillings and teeth pulling without to this day, but my dentist says that it's safer to do it with in case I jump or something and they hit a nerve.
