Has anyone watched the late 80's british tv show Traffik? I'm really enjoying it. It got turned into a v average film by Steven Soderbergh in the 2000s... but the original show is fantastic (so far).
It's about the international heroin trade. What's so great about it is that it dramatizes the complete network of drug trafficking - from the farmers in Iraq who have to grow the opium just to feed their families, to the impact on dealer's families when they are caught, and (of course) the effects on the first world users as well as looking at the police and the politicians who make the drug laws. that makes it sound more pious than it actually is; its really a great depiction of the global web of conflicting hopes, dreams, pressures, etc. that are involved in your everyday drug sale.
