Mine grows fast. It was really long a while ago and I got it shaved really short not long after joining C-T, now it's back to woodsman level. I feel like it started growing even faster after I started eating only plants.

I do really like having a beard, but it's more like I hate shaving. It's so uncomfortable to close shave unless I go through a lengthy hot shave ritual which will still probably end up throwing up a few ingrown hairs. Keeping it trimmed is the easiest, but it's also too easy to just forget for weeks.

I don't take it for granted, I'm just a bit bored of it because I've had it since I was, like, eight.

Also, most men who have a beard like this have hairs that go all the way up the cheek that just look horrid. Arab men get them threaded regularly, which I've had done, but now I just tweeze them out. It's not all roses. Considering IPL.

Also: it totally changes your face (for better or worse). Just found these old passport photos 2010, 2012, now. Weight fluctuation aside, it looks like a mans descent into madness.

It's December 21 st so I'm initiating the fourth operation winterbeard. Celebrating the first year I moved to Cambridge and lived in a wretched apartment with no heating that cost 700 a month.

The rule for operation winterbeard is to have a beard until march 21st, the first day of spring. It used to be don't shave until spring but that made me look insane.

I've been cropping my face hair to this length for a couple months now. Wish it creeped up my cheeks further, but lack of puberty, I guess. Will grow full beard as soon as I can.

Feel as though when I try to grow it any longer than this it starts to look decidedly unkempt and scraggly so i think this is max length for Winterbeard 2013/2014. Out of interest, what do people use to keep beards in check? Do they get it buzzed at home? If so with what? Or do they go to a barber who can deal with it?

Grow out beard for as long as possible then go to any indian/turkish/sri lankan/arab/jewish barber and ask then to tidy it up. Should cost around £3 for the pleasure plus £1-3 for them to thread cheeks (if needed) and about £1-3 to hot shave/tidy the neck area. They'll usually trim the sidburns and shape the rest.

My boss at work gets this exact thing done at the barber in Liberty fortnightly for £50 a time. Horses for course.

I grow a seasonal summer beard when working. Love my bush beard, but it is a major deterrent for certain foods like yogurt or smoothies.

I can't wait for the day that I start getting more than pubes on my face. My dad and grandad both can grow glorious beards very quickly, and i have my big square head is just dying to be covered in beard.
