Kibera thing was tangentially related to an art project I was working on- the main theme is william gibson's idea of the future not being evenly distributed. as you might know kibera is one of africa's largest slums, but had no freely-available maps so people struggled to find basic services until this local digital mapping initiative came along:

question...
i deleted the content from some of my imessages on my iphone. not the whole conversations, just some long message strands (most of them old / redundant apart from a couple active ones). weird thing i've noticed is that with one of them the time that usually indicates the last correspondence (you to them / them to you) keeps changing and updating, however there have been no messages between us since i got rid of the message stream thing. anyone any idea what could be behind this? i'm paranoid and thinking i'm somehow receiving messages but not getting the content or whatever... no idea though

Weird shit occurs constantly at my work, well my second work, which is as a James Johns Jelivery Jiver.
So I have this manager who seems to be always on edge. Like, at any point I feel this dude is liable to snap and shoot up the place with the windex we keep in the back or something.
For instance, a few overweight people came in last night and ordered like two subs each. As soon as they leave, he starts dissing them. "I hate obese people. I have no sympathy for them." Blahblahblah
I chime in, "Well it's all about counting your calories, y'know."
He says, "I've never once counted my calories. That's because I'm on an extreme diet. I'm at like a 2500 caloric deficit right now."
I'm like, dude, that's not healthy, you're losing muscle mass way faster than anything else.
To this he replies, "That's why I take stuff to make sure that doesn't happen. I work at Jimmy Johns, it's not like they're going to test me."
My manager is on steroids.
I can't become a creative shmuck earning a meager salary fast enough.

Taking a warm shower after a week of backpacking is one of the greatest feelings. Also sunburns suck

Has anyone used eBay's GSP (Global Shipping Program)? If so, can you/y'all give me the D-L and your experiences/comments about it? Danke.

It's pretty straightforward. I recommend. (buyer pays through the butt but at least they know up front)

Seems a little on the steep end to me if it's just shipping.

So I just had a sudden ethical question come in my head...Is it animal abuse if you circumcised a panda?

does anyone else compulsively lie whenever people at retail places ask if you have any plans for the weekend? like when someone is bagging groceries and making small chat, i feel like saying "no im just gonna sit at home and study" is weird so i always make something up

I don't mind that one as much as "what are you up to today?" which is always just "shopping"

Wow, it's been a while guys. I've been busy, got a job (working at a deli=great lunch breaks), focused more on school in the year it really counts, played a lot with my band. We just finished recording a few songs in an actual studio so hopefully they'll sound good this time. If it turns out well, I'll post some songs because it's funky stuff.
Strangely, I've been much more frugal since I got my job. I think I only bought a couple summer shirts at the thrift and a pair of plain white authentics. I've also been much more comfortable with what I wear, but it never quite feels worthy of fitpics.
I'm glad the site isn't closed for the season yet like it was last summer. Now's the only time I can really spend here :(
It's been nice just observing though and seeing how well everyone is doing (smiling)

this ikea dresser recall thing is fucking ridiculous
since when is a product considered dangerous when you expressly don't follow instructions regarding its safe use
