I've been doing the "focus" meditation in Headspace every morning and trying to do it in between games/points/sets. I think it has been helping. Either way I beat Dan 6-3, 6-3 last night in a frosty match up. The only source of heat? My second serve.

Nishikori vs Murray in the Davis Cup right now (being played in Birmingham even)

I think Murray will win but honestly find Murray's "Djokovich with screaming" play style no where near as much fun to watch as Nishikori.

taxi driver last week saw my racket and started asking me about tennis, he asked me how i got into it & i told him i started playing because i played top spin on the xbox and wanted to play the real thing, to which he said "i don't know quite what to say to that"

it was the last university tennis session tonight & a girl told me i looked like i'd walked straight out of a wes anderson film

I played tennis five days in a row, crushed a friend on sunday 6-2 4-0 (she retired) then went against DAN immediately got broken twice to get to 4-0, fought my way back to 4-4 then lost 6-4.

I know I can beat DAN but I have to be playing aggressively and I just wasn't for some reason. Could not access the KILL portion of my brain.

So I'm on the search for the most #aesthetic racket on the market — where is the Common Projects of rackets? Most rackets look like a damn Nascar car rn.

Head will do a custom paint job on any racquet you want. So you can pic one on something aside from the paintjob (which would be an insane reason to pick a racquet)

I'm actually on the lookout for some new shorts. My sports direct ones have gone way too tight on the thighs or something.

Thinking of getting this bag, is it too tactical for recreational play though?

Got out hitting balls the past few days. Working on form, but happy to discover I can still hit a spin serve. It's the little things.

Also, considering local clubs. Going to drills this weekend, and then deciding. One I checked out today described it as a Type A club, which is motivating for me but not relaxing. Have to decide what I am looking for from the experience. Can always relax on my local courts.

so so happy for nishikori, most stressful tennis game i have seen so far & made up for nishikori since i don't think anyone expected him to win
