I made this to talk about cameras, photos, and taking photos. Also maj told me to make it.
Today I made my first print in the darkroom, pretty excited about that.

Ah, man, I miss my lab. I'm honestly not that good at printing, but I absolutely love it.
my flickr if anyone is interested, it's been a while since I uploaded anything though.

I'm lucky that my school's camera society has a large and well-equipped darkroom. And I live right next to it.

Would someone care to explain to me how to appreciate photography? I always see a lot of stuff that seems very generic in terms of subject matter, effects, lighting etc. What differentiates a good photo from a poor photo? What does one look for in artistic intention of the photograph, how does one understand underlying meaning within a photo, or is there even underlying meaning in photography?

there is so much mediocre photography out there
but in the end photography, like all other art, is completely subjective. it's just whatever you like.
i mean, i can look at a photo and think "that photo has good/bad composition" "that photo has good/bad contrast" "that photo has interesting/boring subject matter" "that photo is in/out of focus but in the end i guess it's just a holistic personal preference
some photographers become famous because of their distinct style (man ray, juergen teller) or the industry/context within which they work (ellen von unwerth, anne liebovitz), or their subject matter (dorothea lange, ansel adams)
i dunno i'm just rambling now
basically comes down to "how does this photo make you feel"

Maj also told me to post this.
Also if my photos are too large, just be like "yo your photos are too large".

To post a pic here:
-upload your file on imgur.com
-click on Large thumbnail
-copy the Linked BBCode
-paste it in your post
That way your pic will be the right size for care-tags and it will link to the original high res pic!

What film/dev are you iffe? And what lenses do you have for your M6?
I own a M5 with two Voigtländer lenses (35/1,4 & 21/4), lovely camera. It's been a while since I used it though.

Sorry if this isn't the right place for this.
does anyone do film making? recently i've had the urge to shoot something really scrappy - two or three iphones. one interior shot. some simple short sketch or something.
