i don't recall having a catchall thread for the designed goods that one typically finds in many boutiques. I'd really like to see what everyone finds super interesting!

iga mono - donabe pot - iga ceramic which is a type of ceramic that heats very slowly (conversely, it also releases heat very slowly, which is good for stewing and simmering). if you've never had a donabe style pot, it's such a great cooking utensil. simmered vegetables, yum yum


tomnuk design - maple french rolling pin - ps on a side tangent i personally prefer the french pin style vs the standard rolling pin. you don't realize how cumbersome standard pins are until you roll out dumpling skins using one D:

aji stone vase - aji stone is also known as diamond granite, and it rarely loses it's shine as far as i'm aware


yoshio tsuji - tea strainer - yoshio tsuji makes these copper net structures (also does things other than tea strainers!). if you're in LA at the right time, he teaches a workshop in copper weaving (and one in copper hammering) at Tortoise General Store!


allex - letter opener - super simple, but i like the very organic lines

i just realized canoe was in portland so i checked it out yesterday. my favorite was the titanium double wall cups, made in tsubame, japan. they're absolutely gorgeous in person, shimmering and glittering when the light hits them





i also really loved their book darts and bought a set. i think they'd make a nice gift



so much better than dog-earing pages, which never actually seems to work and looks ugly.

hand carved wooden cups! wow. amazing texture. the staff attendant explained to me it's all carved by one family, haha

i felt this towel and it is suuuper luxurious. also apparently it's the same type daisuke obana uses (from n.hoolywood).

i made some little objects over the holidays :-0
they are about 2-4 inches tall

sorry, the photo is quite processed. i forgot to take a pic in nice lighting before i started giving them away
two are with my grandparents, one is with a friend on exchange, and one is in the living room of the sharehouse I just moved out of. the last is somewhere in my boxes. I haven't unpacked yet. I think I'll put the last one on our kitchen windowsill.

I hope i have time this semester to make more!
