I write booky books which I have wildly varying opinions of. Been rereading some of my early stuff which I wrote probably about 4/5 years ago now and it's pretty dire in parts. Still think the last book was ok but that was a year and a half ago. Dunno how far I am into the current one but only been on it seriousl for a month or two.

i think some of your shorter pieces are better.

"being a hot girl must be crazy" and " i was out with some girls last night but I kept depressing them by accident" are personal favorites

when they were kids my dad tricked my uncle into eating a bunch of dirt after telling him that he could grow a watermelon in his stomach if he swallowed some seeds and then ate dirt and drank a bunch of water.

I fluctuate from wanting to be a social butterfly and never not be around friends or partying and wanting to spend my entire life indoors reading and writing and making music alone on a daily basis.

maybe you just don't really like your friends. my relationships with the guys i hung out with in high school have gone through a lot of changes in the eight years since i graduated.

also i don't think there's anything wrong with wanting to be alone and doing your own thing. it's essential for self-development.

its a force of capitalism that isolates individuals. american household sizes are approaching one. people report that a decrease in the number of "extremely close friends" from three down to one. Commodities are maximized for single use/occupancy.

Starfox: definitely agree about the just not really liking my friends. Like a lot of them are cool people but none of them are really all that interesting to be around or have that many interests. Also yeah, I don't really have a problem with being alone.

I usually feel like I get much more enjoyment out of isolating myself than out of being with people.

i went to lotteria in japan over the weekend. it's a korean fast-food chain that is absolutely terrible, so naturally i was curious to see if the japanese, with their higher standards for food, would eat the same garbage. the food was not great but better than korea, but on the first floor of the restaurant there were no tables. instead, every seat was one stool and one small counter, enough for only one person, with an outlet built in to charge your phone. the mcdonalds at the airport was the same way, with most of the seats designed to be used by patrons who were eating alone.

it made me kinda sad, but it was also kinda nice because i was by myself and didn't have to feel like a jackass by taking up four seats.

i wonder if this is something that will be emulated in other places in the future, or if it's a more uniquely japanese thing. i'm way less versed on japanese food habits than i am on korean and chinese ones, but most of the stuff that i think of coming out of japan (sushi, noodles, tonkatsu, etc.) tends to be doled out in individual portions, whereas korean and chinese foods are largely communal.

I need four seats when I'm by myself. one for bag, one for jacket, two for me. maybe another table for extra food
