odradek I don't get whats shitty about the idea that ppl who do risky/dangerous things and receive no negative repercussions for them will continue to do them, potentially until they have an accident. honking reinforces the fact that it was a bad thing to do. very rarely do i ever get honked at in vancouver when i'm not in the wrong.

As the next great care-tags debates heats up, I'm planting myself firmly in the "horn as an alert" camp. Don't want to be seen as a fence-sitter down the line.

I have my motorcycle learner's permit and have had to use my horn maybe 3 or 4 times just to let people know "I'm here and you're about to hit me" but never as "I had to break a little harder than I would have preferred because you misjudged my speed and now I'm shaming you."

looking it up further (it's a hard thing to google) I don't think rip current is correct, I think backwash or offshore flow might be more what I'm going for. Rip current seems a bit specialised.

damn dude, i just read a review on the nail salon i always go to and love, and now i'm having a moral dilemma. this vietnamese guy went to get his nails done and the entire time he could understand all the nail techs talking shit about him and calling him a faggot, and also talking about how dirty black people are and how it's insulting to have to work for them. now i'm conflicted because i don't want to support a business where employees talk and act like this, but i also know this kind of behavior runs rampant in most nail salons and you'd be hard-pressed to find one where you could actually verify that the techs aren't talking shit about the clientele in another language. also, this is vain, but it took me a while to find a salon that has good prices and does my nails exactly how i like them. mannnnn.
