How do y'all feel about all this talk about wage adjustment based on where you live re: remote workers? It seems popular response is that it's bad. But I feel like bringing silicon valley "bucks" into rural areas like montana/idaho/wyoming is way more problematic than someone getting a 5-10k salary cut because they work remotely from some of these more rural areas.

Am I missing something? I'd be happy to take a pay cut if it meant I got to telecommute from wherever I want.

I think its probably a problem because you produce the same amount of value for the company regardless of where you are, so why should you be being paid less? I don't consider "remote work" to be much of a perk, maybe you do, but it isn't universally so. It just seems like a further alienation from labour, that you can guarantee will be exploited by le bosses.

I'm not an economist and don't understand marx so maybe someone with 300iq can weigh in, but in general, welcoming being paid less for doing the same work seems bad to me.

if u support ur local small biz i dont see why it necessarily bad bc thats actively injecting money into ur community. i mean if u spend all ur techbro monie on online purchases from outta town n big chain conglomerate ur not rly helping ur community at all n like ur monie basically get siphoned outta the locality

id rather have ppl with their og salary come thru 2 smaller towns n drop a 20 in tip for the mom n pop diner more than some big tech company pocketing the extra 20. u wanna see some jeff brozos type beat getting even richer nah
