spent like 3 hrs beatboxing w/ a friend yesterday, and then consistently throughout today and my throat is really sore but its really fun.

I've been trying to make some beats on my phone. Getting somewhere but v slowly. Feels more fun to mess about with than a game or just browsing the net though.

^^ beatmaking has the steepest learning curve of like anything ive ever done. its so satisfying when it works out though

i'm not sure i understand the conflict-- why are people hating on it? are shufflers coming up in clubs where its just bros and bras who wanna grind and getting in the way? i guess i can see that.

sounds like uk shufflers are listening to much better music than australians and that shit hardstyle stuff.

e: went back and watched the two videos again. interesting that its so much less athletic than the usual melbourne stuff. very clear charlston/lindy hop flintstone, i see a lot of 90s bay hyphy in it and maybe even a little vogue.

depending on the bpm/jizz of a song i fall into a pretty standard shuffle/running man/reject foundation when i run out of flintstone. there's not much else to do when a great progressive house/trance song is crescendoing other than beat the floor. if the song is slower or funkier i have a decent foundational boogaloo

Mostly my road bike (specialized allez), but looking to get a touring bike (surly long haul trucker) and start training for a long ride this fall.

I dunno what the deal is with the shuffling scene ben. Suspect that like most things it's just people hating on people from another social class.

teck, maybe you're just at that awkward stage where your taste and discrimination have far outstripped your present ability. you can see the disconnect between where you are and where you want to be more clearly, and that feels like you're getting worse?

schia - maybe so im also a bit lost as to what i want to write. i see some good journalism out there, some great fiction, and even the occasional good blog post but right now i dont know what to focus on let alone work on a voice.

ryce - touring bikes are the shit. ive wanted a bianchi volpe for forever. i have this romantic idea of dressing totally fredly and goin on a long multi-state bike ride.

I play bass and make noise with effects pedals but haven't for a while and I'm really rusty now.

I have a mandolin and mandola but haven't touched them in too long.

I swim and do tango badly.

i went skateboarding for the first time in probably 15 years last night. i'm terrible but it was pretty fun.

I'm trying to lose weight so I can get back into doing BJJ competition. . Being anal about your weight is the worst part about the sport.

fucking hell t-paine. I was thinking of losing some weight because my trousers are getting too small.

I never played at any serious level but I went to lessons and coaching for years. I don't think I ever played an actual game more than once or twice though? I don't know. I used to go to tennis and cricket lessons till I was in my mid to late teens but I never had any drive whatsoever to compete, let alone win.
