anything by Andrew Solomon is going to be excellent though, so highly recommend him as a writer in general

I highly recommend this read about how a small group of traders and techies figured out the inefficiencies of high speed trading and how they were being exploited by big banks to take advantage of investors. Even more incredible is how this group revolutionized trading by creating their own stock exchange that protected investors using delayed trades.
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/04/06/magaz ... neral&_r=0For anyone wondering what the current prospects of nuclear fusion solving the world's energy problems are, this article does a great job of explaining the history, politics, and challenges surrounding fusion research at the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER). It is also a sobering look at the limits of current energy sources.

Found a website with a lot of David Foster Wallace's essays. My favourites are "David Lynch Keeps His Head" and "Consider the Lobster".
There's some stuff too, she's really great. My favourite is "Fail Better".

Worth reading because it's pretty stupid. I know plenty of black people who engage in stereotypically 'white' activities, why is it not fair the other way around? And why single out gays? Doesn't help that this is written in a super-preachy manner.
This response is much more agreeable

http://www.gq.com/entertainment/celebri ... la-anthonyCool article on the owner of Media Takeout. I kind of like that the site hovers right in that space of "is this meant to be a joke?????", but I do agree with some of the criticisms brought up by the profile.

Two great articles about identity.
You've probably heard of this guy, a French man who would pretend to be a teenager and then integrate himself into a school or a community.
This one is about a man in charge of security at a nuclear power plant, who claims to have been a mercenary and global assassin.
