On New Year's Day we went to this Middle Eastern/Indian/African/Greek restaurant and then went back again a few days later because the food was so good.

New Year's Meal: Doro Wat from Ethiopia served with injera bread, ayib cheese and a hardboiled egg. It's a spicy chicken stew and very flavorful. The cheese is similar to feta. I'm not a fan of spicy food but I enjoyed this one a lot.

Image

When we went back I had a Mixed Kebab Platter of Beef Tikka, Chicken Tikka and Beef Kufteh plus Beef Biryani. Also hummus and pita bread.

Image

Then we had Kulfi for dessert. I wasn't expecting it to be so tiny. It's very much like western ice cream but creamier and there's a certain spiciness to it.

Eating only plants is all well and good when you can control your diet, but it sucks at group events. At a 2 day event where all the food is beige or brown and all I can eat is wedges. No alternative food places but the company spread.

My kingdom for some spinach.

Wish i could just edit my post to say this but the whale meat was interesting. Little more chewy than you'd expect, pretty tastey though. I could not taste any mercury thankfully. Definitely worth trying just for the novelty.

The menu said "goes great with shochu!!!" next to the picture of it but that was a fucking mistake, will not be drinking that again.

what does whale taste like? I imagine it tastes like lardo but with a little iron. would fuck w that.

I've been using my cast iron a ton in the last week which is super rewarding. it's a lot easier to motivate myself to cook when the pan gets better with every use.

worked NYC chilifest 2014 tonight which was a total dream. 25+ chilis from as many NYC chefs, local craft beer flowing like water-- I sound like a parody of myself but I couldn't be happier. we did not win but our chili was superlative

Just ate here. Salad + full size traditional napoli style wood oven thin crust pizza + coffee was 1600 yen ($16 usd and you don't tip in jpy), attached to one of the nicest malls in Tokyo. They actually had one Italian guy working as the head waiter. Probably the best meal I've had so far, funny enough.
