thought of this thread while drafting a personal essay for college apps. relevant excerpt:
“After realizing I was spending so much time being unhappy for no good reason, I decided I would think positively and embrace little moments of joy everywhere I found it. For example, I like the color yellow because it’s a fun and happy color, and all the art I’ve been creating lately is in yellow because I just want to make and surround myself with optimistic, happy things.”

listening to the music you used to listen to when you were 6-8 years old and dancing around your room to it cuz you were too inhibited to really enjoy it like that back then

working really hard on making a playlist that's the perfect mood to match the energy you want and then enjoying the fuck out of it, listening to songs on repeat for days and weeks to come just fully feeling (smiling)

reforming any negative relationships to things you genuinely enjoy and care about

remembering all the ways you have control when you're feeling out of control

getting dressed up and staging photoshoots just for yourself

discovering new ways to express yourself
