When it's summer right before a thunder storm early afternoon during the middle of the week. When the light is flat and the sky is overcast. When it's so humid that going outside makes you sweat. When it's 80 degrees out and the sidewalks burn the soles of your feet. When there's no shade under the trees. When you can feel the electricity in the air. When you are completely alone outside except for the occasional slow moving car. When the air is completely still. When you're walking outside barefoot and the first drops of rain start to fall, but it's still 80 and you're still sweating. When you can hear the thunder in the distance, but you know the storm isn't here yet. When you get inside as the rain begins to fall. When there's no lights on and the house gets darker. When all there is to do is watch the storm. When lightning flashes through rain streaked windows.
