I've been done it a bunch cuz it's easy in van and I've only ever paid duties (had $750 of stuff) once and it was still way way cheaper than shipping direct to Canada or buying locally.

For qlo though just get someone here to go buy stuff for you and ship it as a gift

Innit lots of places won't ship to Canada (nike.com , various Amazon retailers, outdoor gear suppliers, etc) or will have egregious duty +shipping charged right at checkout (eBay sneaker stores do this a lot)

I don't do this for actual fashun stuff most of the time.
