Tried to dye some stuff black. Turned out grey-blue. I partially blame that I'm trying to dye stuff black and partially that I used a front-loading washing machine that I can't control (college dorm... I made sure the machine was clean afterwards).

I feel kind of discouraged from dyeing again, but I really want them to be more black so they'd fit my wardrobe rotation (prior to dye, completely unworn).

Any tips? Might have to just buy a 5 gallon bucket.

Taking the train last night, I sat behind some authentic gutter punks. They were talking about ways to make enough money to afford internet.

It got me thinking about my own weak attempts at punk style. I'm not punk. I likely will never be punk. How many other styles am I aping by not dressing to my true self? What is that self? Should I resign to my jeans and sweaters, find a sensible job and open a Roth IRA? I'm a month out from graduating in engineering, my lifestyle changes from here on out are trending towards some white middle-class asymptote. Is this just me completing my first "lap" of the fashion cycle?

i think people have a tendency to exclude them selves subconsciously from things and feel inferior just because they interact with a medium in a non traditional way, i bet if you started to talk to them about punk and stuff you would have slotted right in.
