Finally got to name ourselves, yet we chose these usernames

What's the story behind your username? Is it the one you use most commonly?

Mine came out randomly when I signed up for reddit actually. Because I thought I wouldn't really be using the account much, I chose a random verb. dwindles is a nickname that jonstoppable gave me and I decided to use it here.

I've used a range of usernames before, the majority of them super cringey.

Several years ago I was in an electronic mash up duo called soundclip. I just used the same name for my reddit account, which I've only had one.

When I first signed up for a reddit account, I was excited to use the forum for political discussion/debate. Of course, that plan went to hell quickly, and I was still stuck with the username "TheUnwashedMasses". When I went on IRC, I wanted to use something related but different, and "Molasses" and "Masses" have enough assonance for me to dig it.

Mine comes from my dad always calling me by my initials as a kid... He'd be like "Hey RJB... man" and it just stuck.

I started calling myself Bobbin from the moment I got online and I use it to separate my professional and personal life. My friends and girlfriend call me Bobbin more than anything else.

I was thirteen and signing up for an online space game where I wanted to call my empire "Space Monkeys" because lol random
I ran out of ideas when filling in the various names for different bits of my empire so put "Monkeys" backwards for a thing I thought was unimportant but turned out to be the name visible to everyone. Everyone got to know me by that name so I just kept it for everything since.

i used to be good at cod on the wii (no brag but i was on the top of the ffa leaderboards) to the point where i reg get hacking messages, and at the age of 14 the idea of 'you got killed by MAJhacks' was a extremely witty play on words to rustle my opponents further. and it stuck.

i made a reddit account just for posting to FFA/MFA/the whole fashion-discussion ecosystem over there. went through a list of intriguing fashion personalities and really liked schiaparelli (in spelling and in the story of her life). the more i use this username the greater preference i exhibit for bright pink. it's very curious.

i actually have a list of potential usernames on my hard drive since i generally don't like to reuse them (aside from stuff directly attached to my real-life/professional identity).
