would gray work with your skintone? a buzzcut would probably suit you well

dye it grey and then if you don't like it just shave it off for the buzzcut, that's what I'll probably do at some point because having dyed hair sounds fun :heck:

Went and got a haircut and became very #instafamous #barber #menshair #sickfade

Image

more recently I tried this look but it was a bit too hard to maintain so had to give up on it. If I could justify going to the barber every two weeks though this is probably what I'd keep, I was really happy with it.

Saw my dad earlier today.

He said, "Son! I was at a bug convention this weekend and a guy there had the same hair styles as you! To reiterate: a guy at a BUG CONVENTION had your hair. It's time for a change, son."

My dad was reinforcing what I already know to be true. Way too many people (many of whom I don't love being associated with) look like dis. But I've waited far too long and will probably hold out until get a decent length of bun going.

friend of mine recommended this because his friends are growing their hair out freakishly fast

what do you think?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0046K ... 1_1&sr=8-1

(apparently its horse shampoo but people can be horses too)

also, how do you guys recommend i "speed up" my hair growth? Or at least, prevent slowing it down?

I had a moustache for a day.

Image

Image

I'd been trying to grow my hair & beard out and got tired of it; decided to see how it looked/felt.

Things that I learned:

- Something as ostentatious as a styled moustache attracts a LOT of very blatant stares - even more so than I normally get. My location may factor into that somewhat though, being at an SEC school (the American South for non-US people). Maybe in NY/Austin/SF/LA it wouldn't have felt as out of place.
- It's just kinda fun. It's absurd and ridiculous but that appeals to part of me. Only part, though, which is why I didn't keep it.
- I've got a better moustache than I do a beard
- I'm definitely going to be an old-timey strongman for Halloween next year.

The story is I went straight in with hydrogen peroxide mixed with body lotion and slept overnight with it on three separate occasions and I'm surprised something bad didn't happen. My friend tried it and it became really orange...
The roots were a different colour than the rest for some reason, probably because I was uneven with application, so I went in with dark brown temporary dye at the roots so i doesn't look harsh when black grows in.
I mean, I did this in July and I still can't tell where the new growth is...

Hair and beard goals
Image

I doubt my my hair would lay down like that though since mine is pretty curly. I think I'd have to get it straightened a bit or something. Realistically I imagine having to hold my hair like this or else it'll just be a huge afro

Btw how do you get that type of look in the first pic where it looks like you just got out the shower? Hair spray doesn't do it for me

I cut it. I feel so free.

Image

I just want to keep trying out different styles for a while I think.

Kind of want the young joseph stalin hair look (pic below). It looks like he greases back the sides/has shorter hair there. Might trim my sides so they don't flair out like they do right now.

Or maybe even a Dan Croll kinda thing, really long off to one side.

i have reached hair nirvana

was bored with friends so i bleached my hair a couple months ago.....bad idea. I went the next day and dyed it back. My hair was DEAD so i used coconut oil for about 3 months after, and when i started getting roots i needed to do something. i was so sick of having a head full of split ends so i chopped about 4 inches off and dyed it red. Feelin ALIVE!!!

Kind of fed up of having hair, I want to shave my head (not bald/complete shave maybe leave 1/2mm)

Never done that before. Any recommendations on the shape of head where it works best? Also I have a trimmer (body/beard) with a clipper, should it work fine?

edit: The only thing that can be tricky is in between when it grows again to a "normal" length

I've had a shaved head for a couple years now.

I don't know how important shape of head is but if you feel your head and your skull has a defined shape you're probably fine. I know everyone's skull has a defined shape but from what I remember of your pics you don't have a sphere for a head so it should be alright.

Trimmers will do the job if need be but I can strongly recommend these: http://www.amazon.com/Wahl-Magic-Profes ... l+clippers

Having a pair of actual clippers is useful in general for the amount of hair you have on your head but in particular if you're worried about growing it back to normal length. The multiple length options is valuable for keeping everything a consistent length even as it grows out.

One of the issues you may run into as it grows back out is that the hair on the sides of your head will likely fall flat faster than the hair on the top of your head. This makes the scalp visible on the top but not on the sides - it makes the hair look like it's thinning or shorter/lesser on top when it's really all the same length. The multiple length (guard) options available with a full set of clippers is especially useful here as you can let everything grow out while maintaining a shorter length on the sides than on the top. This should make any transitions much easier to weather.

In general having a shaved head has a number of positives. There's no time or effort spent styling. There's no such thing as a bad hair day. You basically don't need to shampoo or conditioner. Anytime you need a haircut it's free in your bathroom in 15 minutes. If you're comfortable with all that then a shaved head can be phenomenal.
