sometimes i hate being the consumer/client of nonprofit organizations, because they're performance based and are at the mercy of the stipulations of grant money and delivering results. as a result, i feel oftentimes there's positive bias and time sensitivity when they work with me. it's not to say that i'm not appreciative, but sometimes i rather take the highway and do it my way alone

after my flight was delayed ten hours, and after waiting an additional hour for a cab at 3 in the morning, I thought I was finally getting some luck because my cab driver was so cool and we chatted for the whole hour drive to my place. then, because I was so sleep deprived I didn't realize that he switched all of my 100s out for fakes until after he'd driven off and I'd walked inside. plus, since I'm 10 hours later than expected i don't have time to sleep since I still haven't done the homework I was gonna do last night. got around three hours until my 8am class so let's hope I can finish on time

in nyc, there's a practice of paying a broker to help you find an apartment. generally these brokers do nothing of value and simply must be paid because they have access to the best listings.

you have to pay them 15% of a year's rent. this is several thousand dollars.

people in seattle are fucking idiots when it comes to issues like homelessness. claims to be a liberal city but what i've seen lately is 'tough love' policies like forcefully clearing illegal encampments and stepping up patrols / citations. all shit that we've done for the last 20 years while the numbers of people living and dying on the streets go up and up. And those policies aren't even as bad as what I hear normal civilians suggesting online.

spent all morning reading the cesspool of comments on some local news sites because I do some advocacy work in the city and feel obligated to understand the temperature on such things but now i feel sick.
