Outlier value proposition for things that aren't the pants at this point is just straight up bad

If you ask Abe why this is $1250 usd he'll say some combo of:

* it's small volume which makes it less cost effective to produce

* neoshell is expensive

* making things in new York is very, very expensive but we insist on it

But as you've said you could get just about any acr jacket that's not insulated or leather, a nanamica gore hybrid thing, a Galvanic IS, really any hardshell trench on the market for the same price or less, and given that Outlier has middling qc (for this market segment) and doesn't work with shell materials much you could probably expect them to be better finished

I don't know anything about this brand but they can produce and sell a neoshell jacket with a removable hood for $450 and put it on sale for $300, so pretty much regardless of how shit this one might be the fabric can't be that $$.

Calling these things "experiments" helps manage customer expectations downward. There's all sorts of ways to screw up something new, including ways that balloon the price.

I just got rid of a black trench and they're sold out of my size (XL) and *cough* $1250, so I'm not particularly bummed that I saw a teaser on Snapchat and saw this thread here before getting an e-mail about it…

Also: Black jacket on a black background? Well, technically the art direction could've been stupider and it could've been B&W photography like for some of their other products…

Wow, I don't see an original idea in that whole lookbook. The shells have the same style and even placement of pocket as ACR jackets, bags are similar, some of the shirts have the same SISP dropcatch style chest pockets. Even this stitched hoodie has been done by 1kdeaths, Enfin Leve, and I think Stussy.

I saw 's signature and wanted to find the image source. Ended up taking a bunch of stuff off of the archives of the NSA's internal newsletter, Cryptolog, which was the original source. Declassified archive's dates range from 1974 thru 1999. Not sure where else to put this.

Nice to see one jacket through it's various iterations.

Wish acr would make some shells with non zipped pockets. Those waterproof zippers are really frustrating to unzip. Always a two hands job.

Also: People who own mainstream ACR do they use non snag velcro? I only have the nemen collab and it uses cheap ass velcro that looks like it's been glued on.

yeah it's 'culturally significant' but i can't read the awful genre prose (and anyway far too late to start now). post useful manifestations (films, tv, twitter accounts, memes, gifs, buzzfeed listicles etc). please be discriminating, i watched a whole season of mr robot on a teen recommendation and it was (mostly) terrible.

That Quechua video was a great progression on the one from the end of SS14 https://vimeo.com/89358873 which had a bit too much "cyberpunk aesthetic" for my taste

(the reason no one linked it here is that it's assumed that everyone interested is already watching all Quechua videos)
