Had enough of you Bobbin, I'm starting the Bobbin backlash with this cutting indictment of your fit:

Your cuffs are too thick.

As I understand it the badges are from the places that dude has been, right? Does it bother you wearing someone else's collection of "trophies", bobbin?

I don't know bela, I think yours aren't thick enough. What's wrong with the rug??

Expect retaliation bela along the lines of:

No problem at all wearing someone else's trophies in this context - they're a mark/part of the production before the item got to me. I'd never wear it if it was a fake set of badges for places the jacket had never been. I guess its the same as wearing something that's worn and/or repaired.

Lovely. Would be great to see a fit like that with more calf, either via pushing up the trews or wearing cropped trews or something.

Agreed - wish they'd lower the gorges on their suits. I actually really don't like the base model for this suit but I got it dead cheap and was able to pay more than I normally would to tailor it up.

Amen brother, regret that this shirt ended up with point collars but we live and learn. Going to bulk up my dress shirt collection in the near future but keep getting distracted.

Suitsupply, natuurlijk. Picked it up on a visit to their outlet in Roosendaal. Nice worsted-flannel fabric and even nicer price tag (€99)

A few years ago all I wanted to do was wear suits all the time. Then I got a job where I had to wear one. Even though I got out of it, I now never want to wear one again.

To work! I'm not client-facing right now (have been for the past year though) but we still wear suit and tie. I think we probably no longer have to wear a tie since the we got subsumed by a french company but most everyone still does. And if there's one thing I really hate it's business casual.

That was super interesting even as it reinforced why I generally dislike startup culture.

Yeah, i'm more than familiar with those startup kinds (any discussion of clothing on hacker news leaves me dumbfounded). I "get it" for sure but these people have some very aggressively focused views and opinions and there's a strong culture of only valuing anything that increases productivity or one's end goals - distractions are seen as something to be minimised and suppressed. It's totally admirable in one way (i'm certainly not going to retire at 30!) but in another completely hollow.

Feel the same tp, even though I don't work at a startup they've tried hard to maintain a start up type culture so you blend in more if you wear worse clothes. It's tough because even trying to play within the style I get looks. It's like it's not actually a formality thing but more an actual vendetta against looking good in any context. You probably could wear a suit and tie to work, as long as they didn't look good. People might even think you're a better engineer because of your "eccentric" clothing.

What do you end up wearing to work then TP? Do you ever post fits?
