Not a whine but sometimes I feel with my background growing up with disadvantaged minorities alongside with Irish underclass and jews and waspy yuppies that I can somehow liberate the world cuz I have previous experience mingling and connecting with everybody. It's too sensitive for either white/non-Asian minorities to negotiate shit for themselves. Same goes with the Middle East, Europe, and Israel. Had a miscommunication today while getting my haircut that left me with an undercut with the sides and back buzzed. My hair was kind of like that before but I always left the sides and back with a a little length. i'd punch him if i actually thought he could cause any detriment but he's just a coddled private school finance major with social issues who realized that our other roommates are too dumb and passive to call him out on his casual racism

he's otherwise fairly easy to live with or ignore so i figure at most i'll wait out the rest of the semester, and most likely just before school ends i'll go hard on calling out his shit and maybe try to hurt his feelings or something like that

more than anything it's made me realize how culturally and politically illiterate a lot of college kids are, especially ones that treat college like 4 years of job training. a friend of my other roommate dismissed the concept of the prison-industrial system because i mentioned 13th (amazing documentary) and according to him "you can't base your beliefs off of stuff you see on TV". take some culture classes in college, kids, because no matter how much you know about accounting or whatever you're unprepared to be a citizen in 2017 if you can't see past whatever dominant ideology you live within

When you ordered a shirt coming from Japan and a Nintendo switch and they both arrived in your city early... but the shirt shipped with FedEx and they marked it as not due for delivery so I have to wait until Monday and the Switch is UPS but just didn't make it in time (even though it arrived at 10:30 last night) and is still scheduled for Tuesday.

I'm trying to figure out the logistics of going somewhere with a 15" laptop and using it there in my preferred backpack.

The official allowed size for under-seat items is 17x10x9. Said backpack is 18x14x9. This is an inch too long, which is merely an inconvenience for long-legged me, but it's four inches too wide which will make it impossible to fit under some seats, assuming this particular rule is reflective of some real physical constraint.

Even if I were to ditch the backpack entirely, the laptop pad is 14.8x10.4x1.3. Too wide by 4/10 of an inch. That kind of problem can be massaged with a , but my preferred backpack has a stiff back and it's still too wide.

I may try putting my backpack in my overhead-compartment back for the plane trip and then pull it out when I get to my destination; I did that with a CamelBak. Thing is, the laptop bag takes up a lot of space inside the overhead bag. There's a lot of fabric to it, so it's going to waste a lot of space that a packing cube wouldn't. I'd like to have plenty of room for clothes; I expect the temperature to range between 92° and 33° (33°C–0°C) where I'm going. I'm going to be going to a computer-nerd conference for the first half of the trip and go hiking/biking up in the hills for the second half, where the daytime highs only reach 65° (18°C).

I do not want to buy a 13" laptop.

I suppose my next step is to test-pack all the clothes I plan to take in my overhead-compartment bag, alongside/inside my backpack. If I'm using the dinky (14.5x11.75x4.75; will have to rotate) shoulder bag as my under-the-seat inflight-entertainment bag, that would probably work.
