i sincerely believe that the "great novel" of this generation will be about applying for things. we live in a time where our lives or consumed by filling out applications. even people with stable jobs are constantly filling out applications. it's madness. i was trying to explain to my parents how young people get jobs these days and they literally did not understand what i was talking about. like the concept of filling out 50 job applications in one day and submitting them all online made 0 sense to them. the anxiety of constantly refreshing one's email, navigating appropriate levels of email formality, "checking in" on an application's status (as above), etc. this is great content folks, write this book.

so i recently had to tell a friend that we could no longer talk due to the nearly abusive (verbal) way he has treated me.

i know it was the right choice but I hate how it's eating me up inside. I am not regretful of my decision but i do worry about them, they are after all clinically depressed, anxious and sometimes suicidal.

Pixelfed is a decentralised instagram, so instagram, but just for the squad here (though with the potential to follow people on other instances, I kind of struggle to explain exactly how the whole federated decentralised thing works, give it a google (maybe read https://fediverse.party/en/fediverse/ or https://newatlas.com/what-is-the-fediverse/56385/) and if you still have questions feel free to ask) and owned by us (me, really) so no using your data to get fascists in power, no implicit tax paid to lord zuckerbergs, no depraved instagram stars being 'recommended' no ads etc etc unless we (again, really just me) decide to implement these things. I'm happy that people are using the mastodon server (If you aren't using it why not? join us! mastodon.care-tags.org) and I think that adding an instagram clone would be great too.

BTW if like me you're charming of using imgur then posting an image to masto is a great way to host it somewhere like the below for ex (it all gets put on rjbmans amazon allowance so it's potentially got more ownership / is less likely to disappear one day with no warning and no way to retrieve it if it got uploaded anonymously etc etc)
