do u think this is more an issue w/ the designer or the audience? wacko maria and sasquatchfabrix have used similar graphics and aesthetics but the designers are directly embedded in an intrinsically linked culture

not my style but seems less sleazy coming from wm and sasquatch (when considering independent of the audience). but then u see white men n women wearing it (and sukajan jackets and whatever else) and it just cheapens everything bc the context is almost stripped away

ultimately tho cross cultural bleed is going to be nigh impossible to avoid and im totally fine w people respectfully utilizing bits of our cultures. i’m mostly irked at people from the dominant global culture (read: anglo) who are hypocrites in adopting our aesthetics n culture while simultaneously making derogatory claims ie in Jarvis format:
white people: asians are robots and have no culture and creativity!
also white people: wow xiaolongbao is so good! wow i love japanese streetwear! wow i stan bTS

as a side note and a hot take many (east) asian american authors and writers rub me the wrong way bc their stuff all reads the same: “ppl laughed at my smelly food at lunch and made fun of my eyes. but nOT ANY MORE” or generic yellow fever op-eds
